Privacy policy

What we collect when you pre-sign up or write to us, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Effective

Who we are

Fayte is run by Fayte Inc. (“Fayte”, “we”). We decide what personal data is collected on fayte.com and how it is used, so for European visitors we are the data controller.

Questions or requests about your data: contact@fayte.com.

What we collect

When you pre-sign up
Your email address, your city (optional), the kinds of nights you pick (optional), your confirmation that you are 21 or over, and the dates you signed up and confirmed.
When you use the host or get-involved form
Your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.
When you visit the site
Our web server records each visit for security: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. To stop spam we also keep a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address for up to 24 hours. It cannot be turned back into the address.

We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers on fayte.com.

Why we use it

To confirm your pre-signup and tell you when Fayte opens near you
We send one email to confirm your address, then launch news only. Legal basis (GDPR): your consent, which you give by signing up and confirming.
To reply to cafés and people who want to get involved
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering messages sent to us.
To keep the site secure and free of spam
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the site and the people who use it.

We do not sell your personal data, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles about you.

Who helps us handle it

We use a small number of service providers. They handle data only to provide their service to us.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Hosts our server in Ashburn, Virginia, United States, where your data is stored, and sends our emails.
Porkbun
Forwards emails sent to fayte.com addresses to our inbox.
Google (YouTube)
Our two videos are hosted on YouTube. Their preview images load from YouTube’s servers when you open the page, so Google receives your IP address. The videos themselves load from youtube-nocookie.com only when you press play. Google’s privacy policy applies to what Google receives.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

If you are in Europe

Your data is stored in the United States. When it moves there from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on safeguards recognised by European law, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or a provider’s certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

Unconfirmed pre-signups
Deleted after 7 days.
Confirmed pre-signups
Kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we stop running the pre-signup list.
Host and get-involved messages
Kept for up to 12 months after our last exchange with you.
Server records and spam checks
Server records for up to 14 days; scrambled IP addresses for up to 24 hours.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. You can unsubscribe from launch news at any time with the link in any email from us, or by writing to contact@fayte.com. We reply within 30 days.

In Europe you can also object to how we use your data, ask us to limit it, and withdraw your consent at any time, which does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. You have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.

In the United States, residents of California and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect, and to ask us to delete or correct it. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.

Age

Fayte events are for people 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think someone under 21 has signed up, write to us and we will delete their data.

How we protect it

The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Signups are stored on our server outside the public website, and only we can reach them. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect small and limit who can see it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email, we will tell you by email first.
